Day 2: Thu 4 Apr - Scarborough

19-28 degC
Ride: 15.4km

Well, most of the campers in this park are very considerate and were in their vans/campers/etc quite early and made very little noise. The only exception - old mate next door! Played a military-type game outside with the volume up LOUD! When Wendy went to use the amenities, she could hear the noise from there. Greg went to sleep and was oblivious to anything and everything, and eventually Wendy decided to shove the earplugs in as far as they could go and went to bed. She did not hear the gun flights (on the game) nor the people being shot, but she did hear the hoons with their 'doof-doof' music! Crikey!!
Consequently, we did not wake up til 6:30am; amazing for us. We were up and having our first coffee for the day not long after. We had a look at the weather forecast and decided on a ride straight up to avoid being caught in the rain. So, off we went into a Southerly from hell! Although the riding was not hard, the constant wind trying to rip your face off became a bit tiresome after a while. Our main aim for today was to find a shop to buy a GoCard to get around on the buses, trains, etc. We had them when we lived in Brisbane in 2008 however, due to inactivity they have been cancelled. Next job is to get the $ back that are still tied-up on them.
We were back home in time for mornos, a bit of admin, then lunch, an LLD, then  into our three times a week exercises, core stuff mainly.  It was then off to the shops. We both need some other walking shoes so off to North Lakes it was. Well, it was like a kid in a candy shop! After living in 'the bright lights of Hervey Bay (read 'the sticks'), Wendy especially was a tad overwhelmed by the bright lights and shiny things in all the shop windows.  Greg doesn't miss it at all.  We made it to the Sketchers shoe shop without any non-required purchases! Wendy did end up buying a pair of sketchers that can be used as walkers and work shoes, when required.
Back at the van we had just enough time to freshen-up, grab a jumper and head off, on foot, to the Morton Bay Boat Club for dinner. We were a tad early so we bought a bottle of wine and settled in until the restaurant opened at 5:30pm! We were the first customers but it still took a little over 25 minutes to cook two chicken schnittys! We think they need to get some pointers from the Torbo pub, our Local. Although the meals were good, and filling, they were twice the price of Torbo but that can be expected in the big-smoke.
We walked back in a fine mist of rain, left overs from a shower we didn't know had even come over. Not more than five minutes after arriving home, the rain came down in buckets, BIG buckets.  A quiet night indoors for us tonight, too wild outdoors.
